I am a board-certified optometric physician, who is originally from Toronto, Canada and completed my Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Prior to this, I completed a B.Sc in psychology at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, then went overseas to the UK where I received a dual degree of B.Sc in Optometry with honors, as well as a Masters in Criminology at the prestigious Cardiff University in Wales, UK.
My professional training and experiences include numerous health care and surgical clinics throughout the east coast and the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Haven, CT, where I developed a strong interest and expertise in low vision rehabilitation as well as ocular disease. In our clinic, I will be providing comprehensive eye examinations, diabetic eye examinations, glaucoma management, ocular disease, dry eye management, and pre and post op care and management.
I enjoy humanitarian services, which include volunteered eye care in Nairobi, Kenya, with ongoing efforts there and within the USA. I am a member of the Florida Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH).
My philosophy of care is focused on engaging and educating patients to be involved in their own medical decision making. I work with patients to provide a comprehensive understanding of their ocular health and am eager to cultivate a relationship where questions may be asked and answered in a welcoming, professional, and relaxed setting.
Dr. Champion and I have worked alongside each other for 7+ years, and we share a vision and passion for ocular health for our patients. We look forward to welcoming you to our Champion Eyecare family.
Dr. Champion has been my ophthalmologist for over 10 years. She is an excellent physician and has treated me with the upmost respect and professionalism starting with my first visit. She is kind and considerate and makes me feel more like a welcomed individual instead of just another patient. She is never to busy to answer my questions and always try to reassure me when I am a little anxious about what is going on with my eyes. The entire staff at Nicoltz Eye Consultant always conduct themselves in a very professional manner. And the technicians make a point of knowing you by name!
I have been a patient of Dr. Champion for years, as was my mother. She is TERRIFIC!
She is very caring and patient. My husband and I like her very much. She spends lots of time with each patient and is very through. She and her assistant work very well together.
Dr Champion is our opthamologist and so happy she is. I trust her and glad she is now located i Jacksonville Beach.
Attentive, good bed side manners, and she has great attention to detail . Stays with it until she gets the best results. I would trust her with my eyesight without hesitation.
I arrived at the office, signed in and took a seat. They called my name a few minutes later. A skilled technician performed the usual tests, i.e., a vision test and eye pressures. I was taken to Dr. Champion's examination room. Soon, another technician checked my eye pressures. After a short wait, Dr. Champion arrived. She examined my eyes with a bright light and magnification. She also checked my eye pressures, which were good. Essentially, no appreciable change in pressures or changes inside my eyes. As usual, I felt the knowledge, care and accuracy of the examinations were excellent. It was a good visit.
