I am a board-certified optometric physician, who is originally from Toronto, Canada and completed my Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Prior to this, I completed a B.Sc in psychology at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, then went overseas to the UK where I received a dual degree of B.Sc in Optometry with honors, as well as a Masters in Criminology at the prestigious Cardiff University in Wales, UK.
My professional training and experiences include numerous health care and surgical clinics throughout the east coast and the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Haven, CT, where I developed a strong interest and expertise in low vision rehabilitation as well as ocular disease. In our clinic, I will be providing comprehensive eye examinations, diabetic eye examinations, glaucoma management, ocular disease, dry eye management, and pre and post op care and management.
I enjoy humanitarian services, which include volunteered eye care in Nairobi, Kenya, with ongoing efforts there and within the USA. I am a member of the Florida Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH).
My philosophy of care is focused on engaging and educating patients to be involved in their own medical decision making. I work with patients to provide a comprehensive understanding of their ocular health and am eager to cultivate a relationship where questions may be asked and answered in a welcoming, professional, and relaxed setting.
Dr. Champion and I have worked alongside each other for 7+ years, and we share a vision and passion for ocular health for our patients. We look forward to welcoming you to our Champion Eyecare family.
